Guus Hiddink, who led South Korea to the semi-finals of the World Cup, has confirmed he intends to become the new coach of PSV Eindhoven.
The coach behind the surprise World Cup semi-finalists plans to return to Holland this weekend to sign a contract, thought to be for two years, with the club he managed from 1986 to 1990.
Leeds were also linked with the Dutchman, after sacking David O'Leary last week, so news of his definite interest will come as a relief to PSV president Harry van Raaij and narrows down the probable shortlist for the Elland Road club.
Van Raaij had told Hiddink to announce his interest by next Sunday, or he would look for another coach.
Hiddink, who has superstar status in Korea now, said: "First I need to sort some things out in Korea and that is where I will stay until Friday.
"There will be some parties and ceremonies for me to attend before I return to Holland and get things sorted with PSV.
"First I have to get over the recent experience, get a fresh mind and then it will be a great challenge for me to start my job in Holland."
