An Bord Pleanála has said residents of Greystones, Co Wicklow, will be given a chance to make new submissions on revised plans for the redevelopment of Greystones harbour.  Tim O'Brienreports.

Wicklow County Council and two private sector companies, John Sisk and Co and Park Developments, initially asked the board for permission to develop a mixed scheme of 375 new homes in houses, apartments and duplexes. They also sought permission for retail and commercial facilities.

In return for the waterside site, which is to be compulsorily acquired from locals, the private sector companies are offering to build a new harbour with a marina and new, relocated clubhouses for existing harbour users.

Following a nine-day hearing in Bray last summer, the board asked Wicklow County Council to resubmit plans, reducing the amount of housing and deleting apartment blocks at the closest points to the existing Victorian housing of the area.
