Gardaí name road crash victims

Gardaí have named a man who was killed in a crash in Co Kilkenny yesterday.

Michael Quinn of Gortahile, Crettyard, Co Laois, was travelling alone yesterday evening when his car collided with a pole on the N9 at Mullinavat. Mr Quinn's body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.

Gardai also named a 34-year-old pedestrian killed in a collision in Monaghan. Shaun Burgess of Moneyglen, Broomfield, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan died yesterday morning when a truck hit him on the N2 north of Carrickmoss.

Gardaí said that Mr Burgess was crossing the road when the collision happened at around 8am yesterday.
