Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident in Clonmel last night.

Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident in Clonmel last night.

Gardaí confirmed that the men, both in their 20s, were arrested shortly before 3pm today. The men are being questioned at Clonmel Garda Station on suspicion of firearms offences.

The 30 year-old victim is still being treated in hospital after he was shot in the back at his home when a gang of masked men wearing balaclavas broke into his home at Oakland Drive, Clonmel shortly after midnight.

The gunmen escaped on foot.

The victim was taken to Cashel Hospital where his injury is not thought to be life threatening.
