Gardaí in Co Laois are seeking help in connection with a serious assault in Rathdowney in the early hours of Sunday.
At about 2am, a man (31) was seriously assaulted by a number of people on Moore Street. He sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital in Portlaoise. He was later transferred to Beaumont, where he is stable.
Two men, aged 31 and 34, were arrested but have since been released without charge. Anyone with information is asked to contact Abbeyleix Garda station on 057-873 0580 or the Garda confidential line on 1800-666111.
