A serving member of the Gardai, based at Garda Headquarters in Dublin, is set to face two charges for the possession of child porn.
The Garda, reported to be aged 35 and married, has been suspended from his duties since May 9th for "alleged improprieties".
The DPP has now directed that he face two charges under the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act.
He was originally questioned after a series of obscene images were discovered on a computer in an administrative department at Garda Headquarters in the Phoenix Park.
