The incident occurred shortly after 1.30am today at Begger's Bush, near Broadfield in Naas, Co Kildare, when a car failed to stop for gardaí. The garda, who was on duty for the Oxegen festival, struck was taken to Naas hospital, where he was treated for head injuries and released.

Gardaí later stopped a car near Castledermot, Co Kildare, and arrested three males in their late teens and early 20s. They were taken to Naas Garda station where two of them were released without charge.

A man (20) appeared at special sitting of Naas District Court this morning and has been charged in relation to the incident.

Shane Hanbury of Cloonmore Park in Tallaght in Dublin was charged with dangerous driving. He was remanded in prison to appear before the court on July 14th.
