Gardai are treating as suspicious the death of a middleaged man in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, early yesterday morning.

Gardai are treating as suspicious the death of a middleaged man in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, early yesterday morning.

The man, Mr Francis Daniels (41), was discovered in a lane 100 yards from his home at Oliver Plunkett Terrace at about 7.20 a.m. by a neighbour walking his dog. It is believed the man suffered extensive head injuries.

The dead man, who was described by neighbours as being mildly handicapped, lived with his elderly mother for more than 30 years.
