A serving member of the Garda has been arrested in connection with an assault on the Spanish island of Tenerife.
A Garda spokesman said that they had received notification from the Spanish authorities that the man was being questioned over a "serious assault".
It is understood the charges relate to an attack on an Irishwoman.
