A new technique which can quickly and accurately identify life-threatening infections is being pioneered in a joint project of scientists at University

College Galway and a Belgian research company.

The technology should make it possible to provide rapid, and sometimes lifesaving, diagnostic results in a few hours compared to days or weeks, a joint statement from the partners, Bio Research Ireland and Innogenics, said yesterday.
