Further arrest made over Dublin murders

Gardaí investigating the deaths of Michael “Roly” Cronin (35) and James Maloney (26) have made a futher arrest today.

The man in his 50s was arrested this morning and is being held at Store Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act. He may be detained for up to 72 hours.

The two victims were shot dead as they sat in a car in Summerhill, Dublin.

Mr Cronin died in the Mater hospital less than an hour after the gun attack, while Mr Maloney died in St James's Hospital two days later. Both victims had gone to meet an associate when the attack took place.

The suspect ran away. A revolver found under a car at nearby Gloucester Place was believed to have been used by the killer.

Five people were released over the weekend without charge after being questioned about the murders.

The suspect’s partner and his former girlfriend were among five people arrested last Thursday. All five were questioned on suspicion of withholding information about the murders.
