Marie Conneely (19) from Baile na hAbhann (Ballynahown) in Connemara, Theresa Molloy (19) from Leitir Mór (Lettermore), Sarah Byrne (20) from Headford and Sorcha Rose McLaughlin (19) from Mulgannon in Co Wexford killed in a collision between a car and a pick-up truck on the N17 between the villages of Milltown, Co Galway, north of Tuam and Ballindine, Co Mayo.

Marie Stephanie Ní Conghaíle (19) from Baile na hAbhann, Co Galway and Sarah Byrne (20) from Headford, Co Galway were buried today, while Sorcha Rose McLoughlin (19) from Mulgannon in Co Wexford will be buried on Achill Island tomorrow. Her funeral mass took place today in the Church of the Annunciation, Clonard.

Theresa Molloy (19) will be buried tomorrow following noon Mass in her native Leitir Mór.

The four women who died were travelling in the same car. Three were pronounced at the scene while the fourth died at Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.

A fifth woman, Michelle O¿Donnell (21), who was driving the car, is in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

Ms O¿Donnell sustained serious head and chest injuries in the crash on the N17 between Ballindine, Co Mayo, and Milltown, Co Galway.

She was transferred to Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday.
