TICKETS are nearly sold out for the Irish Hospice Foundation Ball in the Shelbourne Hotel on April 26th. Only five of the 30 tables are left (at £75 a head) for what promises to be a rather grand occasion. It's determinedly black tie and the organisers are encouraging the women who are coming to wear proper evening frocks or better still, ball gowns.
There'll be good old fashioned dance cards, Jim Farley and his band playing real dance music and what sounds like a particularly varied charity auction in lots that range from a handwritten Seamus Heaney poem to tickets for a Manchester United game. Tickets available from 01 6765599.
