French international hammer thrower David Chaussinand has admitted he took anabolic steroids to enhance his performance.
The 29-year-old, who tested positive for stimulant ephedrine at the Mediterranean Games last September, said: "I confirm my positive test at the end of May for anabolic steroid methenolone which I took to enhance my performance."
Chaussinand has decided not to wait for analysis of the second sample, following the random test by sport's world governing body IAAF in Clermond Ferrand, central France, and said he would retire. - AFP
