Detectives in Limerick have resumed their investigation today into the fourth shooting in the city in the past nine days.

The latest shooting was in the Garryowen area on the Greenhills Road at around 7.05 p.m. last night.

Several shots were fired by two youths on a motorcycle at a number of people.

No one was injured in the latest shooting in a city blighted by gang feuding.

Last Thursday, a man in his late twenties was shot in the back in the St Mary's Park area though detectives do not believe it to be a gangland incident.

The previous night a 26-year-old sustained facial and chest injuries after being struck by shotgun fire in St Mary's Park; earlier that evening, a number of shots were fired into a house in the same are though no one was injured.

Last Sunday week a man (22) was shot in the stomach outside his in Moyross home.
