A man who punctured his friend’s lung and slashed his arm while “hitting him and stabbing him all over” has been jailed for four years.

Gardaí caught Stephen Nolan after following a trail of blood from the scene of the attack to his house.

Nolan apologised to the victim, Mark Hyland, and his family in open court and said the assault should never have happened.

The attack occurred on October 8th, 2009.
