A four-year-old Ethiopian girl has died in hospital from injuries sustained when she was sexually abused, police said today.
The girl, from Jijiga, a town 656 kilometres southeast of Addis Ababa, died in hospital, local police said.
The girl suffered from severe lacerations when she was raped, according to doctors in the hospital.
A 24-year-old man accused of raping the girl is in police custody, government-owned media reported.
