Gardai are looking for the driver of a vehicle, believed to be a white Volkswagen Transporter, involved in a hit-and-run accident outside Dundalk, Co Louth, on Saturday night.

The driver of a grey Subaru car driving towards Dundalk was killed when his car was hit by the vehicle. Gardai last night named the man as Mr Patrick Flynn (38) of Church Road, Kilcurry, Dundalk.

An 18-year-old man was killed at 2.40 a.m. yesterday morning when his car hit a bridge in Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon. Gardai named him as Mr John Threadgold from Roscommon.

A motor-cyclist in Longford died after his vehicle hit a horse near Kilnashee on Saturday morning. He was Mr James Tully (24) from Ballinamuck, Co Longford. Gardai said Mr Thomas Dorrian (18) died when he lost control of his car on Saturday morning on the Letterkenny-Glenties road. Mr Dorrian was from Letterkenny. No other vehicle was involved.
