A suicide bomber targeted Afghan troops in the eastern province of Khost today, killing two civilians and two policemen, according to police sources.
Taliban insurgents have vowed to intensify their attacks on Afghan and foreign troops across the country and launch a wave of suicide and roadside bombs attacks this year in attempt to expel foreign troops and bring down the pro-Western government.
"Four people including two civilians have been killed and several others wounded," said Mohammad Yousuf Zadran, district chief of Zazi Maidan where the attack took place. Several people were wounded, he added.
Violence in Afghanistan has hit its worst level since the Taliban insurgents were toppled from power in the 2001. Nearly 3,000 people including some 1,100 civilians have been killed in insurgency related violence this year, aid agencies say.
