Four gardaí were treated in hospital and a number of people arrested following a series of attacks across Dublin last night.

The first attack took place in Summerhill in the north inner city after gardaí were called to a suspected robbery at a Chinese restaurant.

A man (33) armed with a knuckle-duster sprayed three officers and a shop assistant in the face with pepper spray.  The man was arrested and all four were taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

Later, a local man in his thirties walked into a Garda station in the Shankill area of south Dublin and assaulted a senior officer.
