Gardaí have ruled out foul play following the completion of a postmortem on the body of a 68 year old woman who was found in a house in Tower near Blarney in Co Cork after concerned neighbours had alerted the authorities.

Gardaí had gained entry to the dormer cottage at Primrose Hill in Tower at about 3am yesterday where they found the woman's body in an upstairs bedroom and they were initially treating the death as suspicious and cordoned off the scene.

However following a postmortem examination by assistant state pathologist, Dr Margot Bolster at Cork University Hospital this afternoon, Supt Con Cadogan confirmed that had gardaí ruled out foul play and will now prepare a file on the death for the coroner's court.
