The Minister for Communications, Mr Dermot Ahern, has unveiled a pilot project to publish Freedom of Information requests on his department's website.
Mr Ahern said the project would increase transparency by allowing the public to see how the process works.
All requests made under the Act, other than those for personal information, will be published.
The development follows criticism of the Government moves to restrict the Act with an amendment passed last week.
