Flights between Ireland and France are being severely curtailed today as French air-traffic controllers join national civil service strikes.

Aer Lingus will only run one flight to Paris at 11.45 a.m. today, while a return flight will leave from Charles de Gaulle airport at 3.15 p.m. Aer Lingus says its services to France will return to normal tomorrow.

Ryanair have cancelled all their flights in and out of France.

All intending passengers are advised to contact their carriers for further details.

The strike, which lasts from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., involves the largest air traffic controllers' union in France. Hundreds of European flights will have to be cancelled or rerouted to avoid crossing into French airspace.

The protests have been mounted in the face of French government plans to reform the state pension system.
