A Shamrock Rovers and former under-age international soccer star has been jailed for five years for armed robbery by Judge Elizabeth Dunne at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Darren Berrigan (21), of Croke Villas, Ballybough, pleaded guilty to the armed robbery of £4,773 from the Virgin Cinema, Parnell Street, on February 25th, 2000. He also pleaded guilty to robbing £15 and car keys from Mr Ciaran Howard, of B & R Howard, Springgarden Street, and threatening to kill him on the same date.
