A jury at the Central Criminal court today cleared five men of the murder of their cousin at a Co Sligo graveyard five years ago.

Mr Martin McDonagh Snr, Mr Martin McDonagh Jnr, Mr Michael McDonagh snr, Mr Michael McDonagh Jnr and Mr Patrick McDonagh, all from Hertfordshire, were found not guilty of shooting dead Patrick "Deuce" Ward.

The murder took place during a funeral at Carronanty Cemetery in Ballymote on May 10 th, 1999.

The victim, a father of six, was originally from Galway but was living in Manchester at the time he was murdered.

He travelled to Co Sligo for the funeral of his uncle when he was shot dead.
