At least five pilgrimswere killed and twenty wounded today when suspected rebelsset off bombs near one of India's most revered Hindu shrines inKashmir, a police official said.

"Five people have been killed and twenty injured. The blastshave been caused by improvised explosive device," the officialsaid.

He said the blasts took place in Katra near the Vaishno Devishrine, around 45 km (30 miles) from Jammu, the winter capitalof Jammu and Kashmir.
