Three men and two women in their late teens and early 20s were arrested in Tipperary at the weekend following the seizure of a firearm, ammunition and cash by gardaí.
Gardaí in Nenagh were on mobile patrol duty on Saturday morning when they stopped a car on the M7 motorway at Knockalton.
The car was then searched and a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and a quantity of cash were seized.
Three men aged 19, 21 and 22 and two women aged 19 and 20 were arrested.

They were detained at three separate Garda stations at Nenagh, Thurles and Templemore under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
