A construction worker who climbed a 30m (100ft) crane on a Dublin building site was escorted down by a Dublin Fire Brigade team this afternoon.

Paul Hansard, a Siptu official, lost his job in the Dublin docklands after the scaffolding firm he worked for went out of business three weeks ago.

A second firm, believed to be based in Northern Ireland, agreed to hire him, but Mr Hansard complained the company was not meeting pension requirements.
