At least 63 people were killed in southern Russia today when fire swept through a home for elderly and disabled people.
It took firefighters nearly an hour to get from the nearest sizeable town to the home in the Krasnodar region village of Kamyshevatskaya, where there was no fire station, an official said.
He said 63 people were killed, one was missing and 33 were injured.
There were 97 people in the two-storey brick building when the fire broke out, including four employees.
The night-time fire came less than 24 hours after a methane gas blast at a Siberian coal mine killed at least 78 people, including a Briton, in Russia's deadliest mining disaster in a decade.
