Mr John Finnegan will have to wait until next Monday to discover when the High Court will hear his appeal for a judicial review to stop the Flood Tribunal investigating his business affairs.

Ms Justice Mella Carroll told the High Court today she would ask the President of the High Court to make available a judge to hear the case, pending the presentation of affidavits from Mr Finnegan’s counsel which are still outstanding.

The Flood Tribunal has been investigating a series of financial transactions between companies jointly owned by auctioneer, Mr Finnegan, and builders Mr Tom Brennan and Mr Joe McGowan.

In the course of its work the tribunal has uncovered a £60,000 payment to former Fianna Fáil minister Mr Ray Burke in 1984 from Mr Brennan and Mr McGowan.
