Gardai have sent a file to the DPP about an incident in which a 12-year-old girl was allegedly attacked and raped by a number of teenage boys.
The alleged attack occurred last Thursday night, in the Coolock area of Dublin when the girl and her two friends left a local cinema. They were walking near the Berger paints factory when the youths emerged and allegedly dragged the girl away. The victim's two friends were said to have been restrained.
Three youths were arrested soon afterwards under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. They were questioned in Coolock Garda station and later released. Gardai say two other youths were questioned, but not arrested.
