THE chairman of the Fine Gael executive in Co Louth has said he will not be taking part in a delegation of party members which is seeking a meeting with the party leader, Mr John Bruton. The deputation was decided on at a meeting of over 40 members in Dunleer on Thursday night. The group said it was concerned about the voting at the convention, which selected Mr Terry Brennan and Mr Fergus O'Dowd as candidates for the next general election. The convention was held in September and last week Fine Gael's national executive ratified the selection.
Yesterday Mr P.J. Ruddy, the chairman of the Louth executive, said the meeting "did not represent a properly constituted meeting. It could not and did not represent the general views, within the party."
