A Louth Fianna Fail councillor, Mr Peter Savage, was elected chairman of the Border Regional Authority yesterday, defeating the Cavan Monaghan Fine Gael TD, Mr Andrew Boylan, by 17 votes to 12. The outgoing chairman, Mr Patrick Traynor (FF), was elected vice chairman, defeating Mr Boylan by 18 votes to 14.
