A Fianna Fáil cumann in Co Clare last night voted overwhelmingly in favour of a motion of no confidence in the Taoiseach over his handling of the Shannon controversy.

The "Ennis Number One" cumann accused Bertie Ahern of failing to provide political leadership following Aer Lingus's decision to end services between Shannon and Heathrow and move operations to Belfast.

It also claimed he was failing to protect the social and economic fabric of the west.
