Father of four killed in farm mishap

A father of four has died in a freak accident at his west Clare farm.

A father of four has died in a freak accident at his west Clare farm.

Michael McMahon (65), of Tullabrack, near Cooraclare, was found dead at about 1am yesterday by family members. It is understood that Mr McMahon was crushed between a large wheel, which was lying on the ground, and a piece of machinery which was attached to his tractor.

Mr McMahon may have been carrying out repairs to the vehicle at the time of the tragedy. Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are undertaking separate inquiries into the incident.

Mr McMahon will be buried in Kilmacduane cemetery following Mass at Cooraclare church tomorrow.

He is survived by his wife Bernie, their three sons and a daughter. He is also survived by his mother.
