Almost 2,000 FAS employees are to be balloted on a new settlement formula to their three year dispute over restructuring

Almost 2,000 FAS employees are to be balloted on a new settlement formula to their three year dispute over restructuring. They have rejected two previous offers and rejection this time could lead the Government to press ahead with proposals to transfer the training and employment functions of the organisation to other agencies.

The Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, the Tanaiste, Mr Spring, and the Minister for Social Welfare, Mr De Rossa, are to discuss shortly whether to approve the proposals.
