A Co Louth farmer charged with membership of an illegal organisation was questioned by garda∅ about bomb attacks in the North, the Special Criminal Court heard yesterday.

Mr Liam Campbell (38), of Upper Faughart, Dundalk, Co Louth has pleaded not guilty to being a member of an unlawful organisation on October 3rd last year. Defence counsel Mr Michael O'Higgins SC put it to Det Sgt William Hanrahan of the Special Detective Unit that, during questioning by garda∅, Mr Campbell was asked if he planted and placed a bomb in Derry on April 6th, 2000. He was also asked if he had organised a mortar attack on Glass Drummond observation post in May 2000.
