Family appeals for information on missing Limerick schoolgirl

REPORTS that a missing Limerick schoolgirl was seen in Limerick city on Monday cannot be confirmed

REPORTS that a missing Limerick schoolgirl was seen in Limerick city on Monday cannot be confirmed. Kathleen Wallace (16), from Knockainey, is believed to have eloped with a 24 year old traveller she befriended when his family was camped near her home.

No one could verify the sighting, but somebody had told gardai they had seen her, said Mr Tony Halpin, a neighbour of the Wallaces.

Her family has appealed to her to contact them. Her sister, Ms Noreen Fitzgerald, said Kathleen bad told her of her friendship with the young man called Eddie. Kathleen has been missing since July 10th.

She left a fax message on Mr Halpin's answering machine. She worked for him part time. The message said: "Hi, This is Kathleen."

A Garda spokesman said there were several reports of sightings but the time lapse between them and people reporting them prevented the gardai from acting.
