US F-16 fighter jets intercepted a small plane flying near President Bush's ranch last night.

The plane landed at an airport at San Marcos, Texas, and Secret Service agents were interviewing the pilot.

"There was a violation. The fighters did respond," said a Secret Service spokeswoman in Washington.

She said Mr Bush was never in any danger.

The president and his family are spending the Easter holiday weekend at the central Texas ranch.
