The Government will face widespread industrial unrest unless it reviews its plans to decentralise staff from semi-state bodies, Siptu warned tonight.
The union said that only 56 of the 2,500 staff affected were willing to relocate from 16 semi-states bodies, which include Fas, Enterprise Ireland, the Arts Council and Bord Bia.
SIPTU regional secretary Patricia King warned that the plan was unworkable.
"I would urge the Government to review its decision to include the non-commercial semi-state agencies in its decentralisation programme as a matter of urgency," she said.
Over 20 state agencies being decentralised by the Government are to continue with their protest outside Minister of State Tom Parlon's offices tomorrow.
The demo will be led by Siptu representatives in training body Fas who are locked in talks with management over relocation plans to Birr, Co Offaly.
Fas today continued with a one-day protest outside its Upper Baggot Street HQ in Dublin after five-hour negotiations broke down at 1am.
Siptu branch secretary Greg Ennis said: "Only six of Fas' 400 staff want to relocate to Birr. Only 56 of the total 2,500 staff in state agencies want to decentralise.
"This is why we are holding a protest outside Minister Parlon's office tomorrow."
