The former Presbyterian Moderator, Dr Bertie Dickinson, has died aged 71, following a period of illness. Dr Dickinson was moderator during the tense period following the signing of the Anglo-Irish Agreement in 1985. Born in Belfast in April 1925, he attended Methodist College, Belfast, and Magee College, Derry, graduating in Arts from Trinity College, Dublin, in 1948. He gained a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Queen's University in 1951.
