Lusaka - An ex-convict in Zambia has confessed to killing senior politician Paul Tembo and to involvement in a plot to assassinate other opposition leaders, police said yesterday.

A senior police officer said Mr Chrispin Mwale was arrested and detained after he confessed to killing Tembo. Opposition leader Ms Edith Nawakwi said she discovered Mr Mwale was involved in the killing, and arranged for police to hear his confession with her.
