The EU executive warned Croatia today it was not co-operating enough with the UN war crimes tribunal to be allowed to open EU accession talks.

"If the Commission were to give its recommendation on the basis of today's information, I could not recommend opening negotiations with Croatia," EU Enlargement Commissioner Mr Olli Rehn said.

The EU has agreed to start talks with Zagreb on March 17th, providing it has cooperated sufficiently with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
