IN what is regarded as a major success for the Irish presidency, EU justice ministers yesterday agreed a wide ranging package of measures to step up the fight against drugs and the sexual exploitation of children, writes Patrick Smyth, in Brussels.
The ministers agreed a programme of joint actions on the fight against trafficking in people and the sexual exploitation of children. In an attempt to crack down on sex tourism, they also agreed to enact legislation providing for the prosecution of nationals for offences committed while abroad.
