Eight still held over dissident activity

Eight men arrested yesterday in Limerick in relation to alleged dissident republican activity remain in custody.

Eight men arrested yesterday in Limerick in relation to alleged dissident republican activity remain in custody.

The men, who are aged in their 30s to 50s, were taken to Garda stations across Limerick city and county.

They can be detained for up to seven days under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

A total of nine people were arrested during a series of raids across Limerick yesterday morning.

One of them has since been released.
