Roscommon Vocational Education Committee is to fill two teaching positions in Castlerea prison on a permanent, wholetime basis. The appointments mean there are now 200 teachers providing up to 150,000 teaching hours in 11 prisons throughout the country. They are part of the second chance education programmes which include the Vocational Training Opportunity Scheme (VTOS), adult literacy programmes, adult community education programmes and youth services.
