THIS YEAR'S Materials Technology and Graphics Teachers Association annual conference marks the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the group. Limerick TD Jim Kenny will open the conference, which will recognise the successes of the past and the need to build on these achievements in light of current developments in the curriculum at senior cycle.
The main speaker will be well-known historian and author Professor Joe Lee of University College Cork, who will speak on the theme "Technological education - quo vadis".
There will be demonstrations on turning, burley-making, veneering, computers and the Internet and the scroll saw.
The conference, which is hosted by the Clare and Limerick branch of the teachers' association, takes place in the Limerick Inn Hotel, Limerick, on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March
