The adult and Continuing Education department of Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology runs a busy programme of short summer courses which are open to all. Courses start at the beginning of July. For those interested in art, there will be weeklong courses in oil/acrylic painting, drawing/painting from life and watercolour painting (beginners and improvers) at £90 for the week. There is also an interesting-looking course called art processes which is for those who are already quite skilled at drawing and painting but who want to decide what direction their work should take in the future. Ceramics for beginners and advanced students are on offer, as are photography, creative willow work and mosaic.

There are also a number of work-related courses, including Macintosh Basics, film/video production and website design for small business. A two-and-a-half-day introduction to the Internet is on offer as is a two-week course in portfolio presentation aimed at students intending to apply for a place on an art and design course. The number to contact for a brochure to more information is (01) 214 4631.
