The set of Music in the Classroom tapes and teachers' manual, originally devised by Gearóid Grant in 1989, has been transferred to CD format and updated.

The Irish Times Debate

The first rounds of the 46th Irish Times debate competition start shortly. The competition is open to students at all third-level institutions in Ireland. The entry fee for a team of two people is €70. For an entry form e-mail: debates@irish-times.ie.

University of Limerick/Limerick Institute of Technology Open Day

Limerick Institute of Technology and the University of Limerick are opening their doors today to welcome students who wish to find out about third-level courses in Limerick. There will be a free shuttle bus service each way between the UL campus and the LIT campus today. All are welcome.

The Last Lecture Series at University College Cork

University College Cork Faculty of Science's public lecture series to mark European Capital of Culture - Cork 2005 continues tomorrow with Understanding the Language of Neuro-immune Communication by Prof John Bienenstock, visiting scholar in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC) at UCC. The lecture takes place at 8pm in Boole Lecture Theatre 4, UCC. Admission is free and all are welcome.

University of Limerick Careers Fair

The University of Limerick Careers Fair, which takes place at the university tomorrow, is a major event in the Irish graduate recruitment scene with some 95 organisations participating. This year's event includes companies from throughout Ireland as well as some overseas employers, representing all sectors of employment.

The fair is organised by the Cooperative Education and Careers Division in UL and takes place in the University Sports Arena tomorrow from 12pm to 4pm.

Graduate Careers Fair in Dublin

A graduate careers fair, organised by Dublin City University, Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght, St Patrick's College and Trinity College Dublin in association with GTI Ireland takes place today at the Shelbourne Hall, RDS, from noon to 6pm. ChemEd-Ireland 2005

Science - Technology - Society in Teaching Chemistry is the title of a seminar for chemistry teachers which takes place in the University of Limerick on Saturday, October 22nd from 9.30am to 5pm. Speakers and topics include 21st-century science, STS in Irish syllabi, the Technology Awareness Programme. The cost of registration including lunch is €30. Cork Carers' Awareness Week

A series of events and celebrations is being planned for this week, which aims to raise awareness of the contribution that carers make to their families and communities and to generate discussion about issues affecting carers.
