• Public lecture on science at UCC

Dr Edward Walsh, chairman of the Irish Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (ICSTI), will give a lecture entitled "Science and Technology and the Future of Ireland", tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the Boole IV Lecture Theatre, UCC. Admission is free.

• Young People's Experiences of Crime Programme - Spring Seminar Series

• Public lecture at St Patrick's College, Dublin

• Fishy business for teachers

A new website and training course for primary teachers, entitled "Something Fishy", is based on the primary science curriculum. Hosted by the Galway Education Centre, the Western Regional Fisheries Board and Atlantaquaria, the course will take place tomorrow and February 9th. It will include an overview of the "Something Fishy" package and its application in class. For more details, contact (091) 745600.

• Irish Schools Film Competition

The Irish Schools Film Competition, part of the annual Fresh Film Festival in Limerick, takes place in April and is seeking entries from young film-makers. There are two sections: Junior (7-12 years) and Senior (12-18 years) with prizes for the best three films in each section. The closing date for entries is Friday, March 11th.
